b10cks is open source under AGPLv3. Not a trimmed-down community edition, the platform itself. If we ever take it somewhere you don't want to go, you already have everything you need to go your own way.

The problem it removes
With a closed CMS, an update is a roll of the dice. A workflow you depend on can change and you have no way to look, no way to patch, no way to leave with your setup intact. You file a ticket and wait.
Open source does not make us better people. It makes us accountable. The code is public, so the gap between what we say and what we ship is public too.
Why we gave it away
A content platform outlives the site it was built for.
We did not open the source to look generous. We did it because a roadmap is easy to write and hard to keep, and because the tools teams depend on keep quietly getting worse while nobody can do anything about it.
AGPLv3 is the part that matters. It means the platform stays open, including for anyone who builds a business on top of it. We make our money running the hosted product well, not by holding the exit shut. The self-hosted version is the same platform: every feature, every locale, unlimited editors, platform fee €0 / month.
That is an uncomfortable way to run a company. It is also the only version of this we wanted to build.
You should not have to trust us. You should be able to check.

The open-source promise is worth little if running it yourself is a project of its own. It is one command. From there it is the same platform on your own server, with your content and your infrastructure.

Coders Cantina powstało z przekonania, że technologia powinna służyć ludzkiemu rozkwitowi, a nie tylko metrykom efektywności. Open source nie jest dla nas tylko wyborem licencyjnym – to strukturalny wyraz tych wartości. Oznacza, że możemy być rozliczani według standardu, który sami deklarujemy.
