Audit log

The audit log is the space's memory. It records who did what, to which item, at what time. When somebody asks "who unpublished the pricing page on Friday?", the answer is one filter away instead of a round of guessing.

Nobody reads this page daily. It matters on the day something unexpected happened, and on the day an auditor asks.

Highlight

The log covers everything in the space, not only pages: files, tags, data sets, redirects, releases, and comments included. Both people and automatic processes are recorded, so "did somebody do that or did an automation?" is a filter rather than a theory.

What is recorded

Actions across everything in the space:

• Content: created, changed, deleted, published, unpublished, scheduled, moved, restored, and switched to a different version
• Versions of content, blocks, and their versions, templates, folders, and tags
• Files and their folders and tags
• Data sets and their entries
• Redirects and releases, including releases that were committed or cancelled
• Comments: written, resolved, reopened, and reacted to

Every record holds the time, who did it (a person or an automatic process), what they did, and which item it happened to.

Filtering

Filters can be combined, which is what makes the log useful:

• Who: people or automatic processes, or one specific person
• What: one kind of action, for example only publications
• Which item: one type of item, for example only redirects, or one specific page by name
• When: a date range

Combining two or three of them answers precise questions: "everything anyone deleted last week", or "everything that happened to the pricing page this month".
